When a Flood Far Away Changed Life in My Village

Introduction

Nature has a way of reminding us that everything is connected.

Today, a massive flood struck the village of Mayoon. Although the flood did not directly hit my village, its impact reached us in an unexpected way.

The flood blocked the main Ishkoman River, which flows through my village Hasis. As the river became blocked, water backed up and spread into our village, submerging homes, farmland and even a school. Families were forced to leave their homes and move to safer places.

It has been a heartbreaking day for everyone in our community.

An Unexpected Disaster

No one expected that a disaster in another village could affect us so quickly.

When the flood blocked the river upstream, the water could no longer flow normally. Instead, it spread into our village, turning fields and familiar places into flooded areas.

Seeing homes and farmland under water is a painful sight that none of us will forget.

Hasis in a Difficult Time

Our village, Hasis has always been a peaceful place surrounded by beautiful mountains.

Today, that peace was replaced by fear and uncertainty.

Families had to leave their homes to protect themselves. A school and agricultural land were also affected, leaving many people worried about what comes next.

For a farming community, losing land is not just a financial loss, it affects livelihoods and hopes for the future.

Standing Together

Even during these difficult moments, I witnessed something inspiring.

People helped one another, checked on their neighbors and supported families who had to evacuate.

These acts of kindness remind us that even when nature tests us, our unity gives us strength.

A Prayer for Our Village

We pray that Allah protects the people of Hasis and every community affected by this disaster.

May Allah keep everyone safe, ease the suffering of those who have lost so much and restore peace to our valley.

May the river return to its normal course  and may every displaced family be able to return home safely.

Ameen.

Conclusion

Today's events reminded us how quickly life can change.

A flood in one place affected another village many kilometers away, showing how closely connected our valleys and rivers are.

Our hearts remain hopeful. With faith, patience and unity, we pray that Hasis and all affected communities recover from this difficult time.
