Keeping Our Environment Clean During Election Season


Introduction

Election season is an important time in every community. It is a time when people share ideas, discuss the future, and participate in choosing their leaders. In many villages and towns across Gilgit-Baltistan, election season also brings large gatherings, posters, banners, and public campaigns.

However, while people focus on politics and campaigns, one important thing is often forgotten, the cleanliness of our environment.

Our mountains, valleys, roads, and villages are part of our identity, and it is our responsibility to protect them during every season, including election season.

The Growing Problem

During election campaigns, many public places become filled with waste. Plastic bottles, food wrappers, posters, and banners are often left behind after rallies and gatherings.

Roads that were once clean begin to look polluted, and natural places lose their beauty because of careless littering.

In beautiful regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, where nature is one of our greatest treasures, this problem becomes even more serious.

Why Cleanliness Matters

A clean environment is important not only for beauty but also for health and future generations.

Pollution damages nature, affects wildlife, and creates unhealthy surroundings for communities. When waste is thrown carelessly into rivers, fields, or mountain areas, it harms the environment that supports our lives.

Keeping our surroundings clean shows respect for both nature and society.

What People Can Do

Everyone can help protect the environment during election season through small but meaningful actions:

• Avoid throwing waste on roads or public         places

• Use dustbins whenever possible

• Clean gathering areas after events

• Reduce the use of plastic items

• Encourage others to respect nature and           public spaces

   Even simple actions can create a big                 difference.

A Responsibility for Everyone

Protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of authorities or organizers. It is the responsibility of every individual.

Whether we support different leaders or different ideas, we all share the same land, the same roads, and the same natural beauty.

Elections may last for a short time, but the environment remains with us for generations.

Conclusion

Election season should not only be about speeches and campaigns,  it should also be about responsibility and respect for our surroundings.

If we truly care about the future of our communities, we must also care about the environment around us.
